| | As part of our romantic package at the bed and breakfast we were staying at a dinner here was included. Our hosts made the reservation and requested a table with a view - which we got (thank you amore by the sea). My husband and I love seafood and had the plater for two. It was wonderful; lots of food, cooked perfectly, lots of choice etc. The service was also great, we wanted to take our time and not be rushed and the server did just that. We never felt rushed (although they were busy), we felt we could just sit, relax and enjoy our wonderful night and food together. We are thankful to the bed and breakfast who sold us this package as we would not have ever found this restaurant on our own. When we return to Victoria/Amore, we'll be back to Nautical Nellies!

| | In a cold and rainy day I get lost in New Westminister, my girlfriend is yelling for food. I saw this King Sushi, when I went in there, the server is greeting us with a great smile and arrange us a "couple" table. There are always no rushing to order in King Sushi, my girl friend is so picky that we spent almost half and hour to decide what should we eat. During this half hour, the server refill our tea and doesn't rush us for ordering food. We had ordered some sashimi, sushi and hot plate. The sashimi taste so good that remind me the taste of the fresh fish when I was in Japan last year, superb! Their sushi is so good, the rice is not pack together tightly and the aroma of rice is not covered by rice vinegar, the aroma and the sour-ness combine together, excellent! I am so sure that this sushi is made by a professional sushi chief. finally the hot plate: gyoza, grill fish, udon soup, they are all great plate. I feel like I am back to Japan. **I feel bad that I need to spend extra money on gas because I am so sure that my girlfriend will ask me come back again and again**

| | Do not eat at this restaurant. The food was absolutely disgusting and my pizza had "rotten" shrimp on it. It had that old rotten fish smell, when i opened the box. I took one bite and almost puked. When I called to complain they offered me "an in store credit" not a refund, and the person on the phone blamed the other staff for keeping old shrimp..."i don't know why those guys do that" he said.
When i called the next day, Denise was completely, rude, unhelpful and talked in a downward tone towards me the entire conversation. I had to ask her three times to take my name down and she finally did. She kept asking me irrelevant questions that only made me more aggravated, rather than take my name and number and have the owner call me. I guess that's how they deal with a complaint, by having the customer say "its not worth the hassle", so they don't pursue it..
She said they don't keep the receipts so getting a refund would be difficult....i don't even care about a refund now, and I hope i don't hear from them again.
This review is enough.

| | Being residents of Coquitlam, Sushi Night means Nagano. We've been there so often that the staff recognize us and the sushi chefs know us by name. Unless we are entertaining, my husband and I sit at the sushi bar and talk to Chef Pai. Ther'es often somethig extra passed our way. Negitoro and spicy tuna are our favorite rolls and a meal isn't complete without a plate of BBQ black cod and an order of gomae.
I notice that other reviews have said Nagano is expensive. We've never felt that way. You get what you pay for and in this case, the freshest ingredients and generous portion sizes are what you are paying for.
Highly recommend!!

| | Even if you aren't vegetarian, you will love this place. The flavours and creativity can't be beat. I have been here about 6 times now after only discovering it 6 months ago and it is great! Never had a bad meal and the staff are great at recommending something if you're unsure what to order. A ton of food for a reasonable price. Their nachos can't be beat!!! I love this place!

| | This place was unbelievable. Unbelievably BAD! The bathrooms were disgusting...i refused to use them and held it until we got to our next destination. The service was a joke. We got ignored for 20 mins before they took our order and the food was even worse. I dont think it can even be called food...it was the WORST meal i have ever eaten. NEVER GOING BACK. The only reason we tried this place in the first place was because we had a coupon from the Entertainment Book...NEVER AGAIN. GROSS!!!

| | Set in the heart of Ladner village, Taverna Gorgona is a must-try. I love this place and have never had a bad meal here! They do take out also and the portions are very generous. Best chicken souvlaki i have ever had. This has ruined every other greek restuant for me as no other greek restaurant compares to this place! Definitely worth trying, you wont regret it! And Nikko (the owner) makes you feel like family.

| | I too took my daughter for dinner last Monday. The patio entrance looks really nice and inside the decor was neat and clean but a bit sparse.
We were the only ones there but it was a Monday in November so not entirely surprising. Our server was very friendly.
They have a small menu - not always a bad thing but this time just not quite enough options. My daughter and I shared the couscous with Chicken. It came steaming hot and had a very generous portion for us to share. The couscous and chicken were cooked perfect but the vegetables were a bit over done for my taste. It seemed a bit under seasoned but I declined the salt and pepper offer when the meal was brought out and it could have used it. It felt like comfort food on a cold November night - a meal my mom would have cooked.
We ended with the baklava, which was good.
A couple of things to note - for whatever reason the lights seemed to have power surges and would flash very bright every few minutes - it was a bit concerning.
They did not have juice to drink - only soda, coffee and tea.
The bill came to $21 and I felt it was a good price and we will probably be back another time that we are too busy to cook. I would like to see some other items added to the menu to try, however.

| | Definatly one of the better ones I've tried.
The deluxe menu was not really different from the "lite dinner" menu. Almost the same selection, with an exception of a couple of items. So, it would be a preference if you would want the extra items. The sushi was good, the chopped scallop cone was full of chopped scallop. The chicken karage was really good too.
I thought the service wasn't bad at all. They had mistakenly entered in the wrong quantity of our order, but they were quite pleasant about it. The lady that was serving us was really nice and cheerful.
The value was cheaper than most all you can eat places I have been to. $19.95 for the regular menu and $22.95 for the deluxe. We chose the regular menu and it was quite extensive for me already. There was more menu on the sheet that you order than the meny they give you too.

| | We went to Samba last Saturday. Was again an incredible night. Lots of fun. The place is a little bit in need of renovation, but the style and the people made the difference. Everything starts with the hostess. Pretty girls, nice and with a lovely brazilian accent. The servers are super nice too. Very delicate, always watching theirs tables, cleaning, changing plates, suggesting something, one of a kind. Then the meat guys - another show. Lots of options of meats, in the temperature we wanted, etc. Always some managers around asking the customers if is everything was doing good, if they can pleased us, talking to the servers to give orientation, very professionals. I'd like to say the house was full and they still have time for every customer, without bother anyone, with limits. The dancers are very cute and the show is something extra. The music could be lower, if you go to a restaurant you want have a conversation with your partners too. But again, the restaurant is one of a kind. I have plans to go again in the New Year's Eve, to have more fun.

I know its hard to believe, but we both loved the macaroni and cheese as an appy. I feel when the cold weather really starts to hit more people will be coming to get close to the fireplace.

The food was good, and well proportioned for sharing. If I had to do it again, I would order more appetizers for sharing and skip the entree. There were amny items I wanted to try. I recommend the Red Door for a good night out dining experience.

| | My friend and I headed to TGIF's for lunch after Metrotown shopping and in want of a small meal with glass of wine. We've been here before and it is a decent restaurant; however, I think it is geared more toward families, late teens and early 20-year olds. There is not much choice in this mall for folk wanting wine. Our waiter was helpful and attentive but the goth guy sitting behind us (on his own) started a noisy belligerent conversation on his cell concluding with well I don't want to talk/see you anymore. My friend and I figured this explained why a young guy is hanging out on his own on a Sat pm. His foul language was a bit off (for us) and the kiddie's at other tables. I know this has nothing to do with the restaurant but this was one selfish soul. Bruschetta was delish as was my chum's onion soup. Wine, top notch!!

| | I would tend to agree with the reviewer below regarding the wings. On Thursdays and Sundays is cheap wings night, I thinkk they are still 25 cents per and the wings are pretty large. I've had the Sunday breakfast buffet for $10.95 and it's not bad. There's the usual omelette station, which for some reason was not manned the few times that I went. There's hot food and the bacon and sausage were good, as was the eggs benedict. One time they had deepfried perogies with all the fixings...which was awesome. Can't comment on the other food, but the ambiance is typical sports bar and is packed whenever there is a big game or UFC event.
Nice neighbourhood pub.

| | We decided to try this new restaurant upon recommendation from a close friend. He said their food is better than Sun Sui Wah and the prices are lower. I was pleasantly surprised. It was true.
The place is huge. As you walk in you'll feel like you're in a five star restaurant. Huge chandelier and real leather seats. Nice ambience.
The food is really good. I can tell that the seafood is really fresh. There is no fishy smell at all. The stir-fried scallops and prawns are excellent. I enjoyed it. It has huges and very fresh scallops. Definitely well worth it. The black cod and tofu hotpot tasted really good too. They use fresh ingredients.
They have a special going on right now. Diners are given a coupon good for a free special dish that you select from a list of 10 Chef's specials. This offer is good for your next visit. The free dish is a full size dish. It's not an appetizer size.
I haven't tried their dimsum but I read a good review from one of Vancouver's food bloggers. They enjoyed their dimsum here. You can read their post below.

Wings nights are on Thursdays and Sundays, and they are good & cheap.
The service is okay, some understaffed nights can leave you frustrated.
I recommend this pub to people who want to eat wings for cheap. Other items on the menu should be avoided.

The portions were really good, my lamb was a bit dry but overall pretty good. The service was very friendly, one of the servers forgot my beer and apologized afterwards and took the beer off the bill, a very nice gesture I thought. A nice dining experience.

| | First of all, came by on a Saturday night, and this place was packed. Server took down our names, and told us that the wait would be only 10-20 minutes, but we had to wait for 40 minutes. Although the ambiance is hip and trendy, it did not compensate for the lack of service and the food. When we finally gotten seated, the hostess gave us our menus, but did not offer us any drinks or water. When we finally decided on what to order, we had to wait 25 minutes for our server to show up, and when he did, he did not even apologize. We ordered 2 appys, and 3 entrees, and some drinks. The drinks came out fast, but the appys took forever, and so we flagged down the manager, and she told us that it was coming. And it did finally arrive, and the appys were delicious-spinach/artichoke dip and kobe burgers. However, when we were done appys, I told our server that I wanted another drink, and he said okay, and then placed my glass beside the booth, and walked away. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our entrees. The entrees were alright, portions were adequate. However, the salmon was extremely salty, and the seabass was slightly tasteless. My friend ordered a caesar salad, and there was just 6 thinly sliced pieces of chicken. Although the manager did give us a "free appy" for the long wait that we experienced, I probably would not go to this location again. We should have just went to the one on English Bay, with beautiful beach scenery, instead of Yaletown's snobby hostesses/servers that think they're "just too beautiful" to do their job ( which is serving, of course) properly.

| | The hostesses were very friendly and communicative. I went with a party of 4 and it only took 5-10 minutes to receive a table on a the. I was offered a sample martini while I was waiting. When a table was about to come up, the hostess asked if I would like to view the table, which I did and she prepared the table to seat us quickly.
Our waitress (Huyanne) was professional, friendly, and went the extra mile to form relationship, and ensure we had everything we needed. She was fantastic, and honestly, one of the best servers I have encountered, even here in Yaletown.
The food was tasty, we shared the Feta and Spinach dip with pita - fantastic, and I had one of their pesto, sun dried tomato and feta pizza, which was nice and salty - the way I like it! Our server suggested a drink feature that included crushed grapes and vodka, and my friend really enjoyed it. She contuniously ensured everything was to standard. The gingerbread cake full of flavor and was refreshing with the apples and gelato.
James(the night manager) also stopped by our table to ensure that everything was alright, which was very much appreciated.
The ambiance is cozy, with dim lighting, mirrored walls, and the booth seats were covered in a brown pleather alligator. The acoustics were great so conversation was easy. There are many easy to view TV's - it would be a great place to watch a game or sporting event.
The only improvements I would suggest are the table size - there was plenty of seating space in the booth, but the tables seemed too small to accommodate all of the food plates and glasses , and they would appear more upscale if they upgraded their napkins to a white cloth instead of paper. Overall, I will definitely be back and I am grateful to finally find a place with fantastic service!

Love the food, this Vietnamese food is good -- Chicken or beef skewers, vermicelli, and a pork spring roll and I'm good to go. Pho mmmm good soup! Deep fried bananna for dessert, and we are good to go.
The place is kinda dated since it reminds me of the old place that used to occupy it's space with little to no changes.
Our waitress was polite and made sure that we were happy.
All in all good value for your dinner dollars and very, very casual dining gives an asian flavor a fun time out.

| | have been here twice. The first time a couple of weeks ago. The place was packed but they managed to squeeze us in. The restaurant smelled amazing and we asked the front of house to choose a 3 course menu for us. He also suggested a great wine. The best steak tartare I have ever eaten - an amazing coq au vin - and mouth watering tarte tatin. My partner had a salad with goat cheese, entrecote and creme brulee. Including the wine the bill totalled $150. The 2nd time the place was packed again and the service was a bit slow,b ut the front of house again was wonderful and opened our favourite wine and provided glasses for us while we were standing waiting. I will be back as many times as I can afford
